When to Call for Search and Rescue?

And how to avoid needing to..

Central Cariboo Search and Rescue volunteers are on call, ready to respond; 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. All services we provide are free, with no cost to the public.

If you find yourself in a situation where you may need Search and Rescue, please dial 911. All Search and Rescue services must be requested through an authorizing entity, for example, RCMP or BC Emergency Health Services. Please call 911 as early as possible, do not wait any amount of time if you believe yourself or someone you know, may need help. If you will be venturing out of cell service, please utilize secondary communication devices (satellite devices, radio, etc). Always tell a responsible person where you are going, what you are doing, and when to expect you back. In the words of BC AdventureSmart – Train, Trip Plan and Take the Essentials.
